Dear single friend,

Dear single friend, It doesn´t matter if you´re young or old. It doesn´t matter if you live with your parents or by yourself. It doesn´t matter if you are at school, or working, or in the mission field. I know something, you may be desperate, you may be discouraged, you may be hopeful or expectant, you may think about it very often, or may be now you´re not very interested about it, but I know that somewhere deep inside your heart you yearn to be loved by your own Price Charming, don’t you? tumblr_n5n4d5mGgf1sl6cl9o1_400 I was that kind of girls who think that being obsessed with marriage was stupid and a loss of time. Well, weddings are everywhere right now, I mean EVERYWHERE! And for months every conversation somehow ended with the “marriage subject”. And I feel helpless, it got me. And talking with other girls I sense that many of them struggle with romantic thoughts; including me. But, the Lord has been teaching me important lessons through this:

  1. Don´t judge girls who are craving for marriage

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Romans 2:1

You want it too, don’t you? Judging others doesn’t make you more spiritual. We must be merciful and point those girls towards Christ to fulfill their desires. And that way, we can also be occupied with others instead of being occupied with our own desires and thoughts.

  1. God loved me and chose me.

I´ve thought “There´re so many amazing girls out there, no one is going to want to spend their entire life with someone like me. No one will ever love me that way.” But God reminded me:

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3

“Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’ and her who was not beloved I will call ‘beloved.’” Romans 9:25

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. Ephesians 1:4-6

There´s a lot to be said about “election,” but the point here is that He chose me. Even being who I am He chose me and loved me so much that He also bought me with His own precious blood! He wants me to spend with Him all the eternity. I can´t even understand the whole meaning of the word “eternity”, it´s more than the life here on earth. And if it wasn’t enough, He loves me so much that He is working in me to make me as Jesus. Don´t ever be discouraged for not being “chosen” The King of kings has chosen you to be His daughter and ultimately, the spotless bride of His Son. What a privilege and hope!

  1. Every day is a gift. Give thanks!

The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.” Psalm 118:24

Single or married, rich or poor, lame or jumping, there are countless blessings in our lives. If we focus more on what we don´t have or on what we want, instead of focusing on what God has given us and what He has done for us, we’ll soon become bitter, complaining girls. Be thankful! God orders us to always, ALWAYS give thanks!  Think about your first meal of the day, how many things had to happen before it was there served for you. Think about you reading this, you can see, you can read, you are able to understand. Think of trials, how faithful He is, how He strengthens and how bright He is in the darkness. You could always have less, it may become worse :D But we´re always better than we deserve! “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie

  1. He is enough, and will never leave you

Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast”. Psalm 139:7:10

“I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.” Psalm 16:2

We have a loving, powerful, holy God; and realize it or not, He is here, we cannot hide. You want someone to hold your hand. There is no place He is not holding your hand, and holding it fast. He will never leave you, He´ll be there to guide you. His presence becomes real when you´re aware He is right beside you. What a wonderful thought. And the deepest our relationship with becomes, the more we enjoy His Word, the more we seek Him, the more we think about His truths, if we pray without ceasing the more we will realize He is truly enough, and our souls will be fulfilled with the assurance that He will be with us forever. “The more you read the Bible, the more you’ll love His Author.”

  1. Faithfulness

“He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and he who is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much.” Luck 6:10

God wants us to be faithful. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you can trust God’s sovereign wisdom and love for you. Do everything with love for His glory, and trust He has a plan and think you´re doing it for the King. Don´t wait until you´re married, don´t wait your will to be done, don´t expect glory or love; live right now to please your Heavenly Prince. We are called to love God and to bless others. These thoughts have helped me a lot to keep my eyes on eternal things, and to realize how precious Christ is “I don´t know what the future holds, but I know the One who holds the future” and He loves me, and He has work for me to do right now. Charles Spurgeon said, “There are some graces which would never be discovered if it were not for your trials.” So, be excited about what God is doing (even if it’s hard) and the surprises He has ahead for you, He is faithful, and there is fullness of joy in His presence, and I can tell you that there is more joy in doing what you should do than in doing what you want to do. If you trust God, in His perfect time He will bring “something” it may not be marriage, but you can trust it will be good. Dear friend, today is good! “This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God’s way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness.” Elizabeth Elliot

Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one;  and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Mark 12:29-30

He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen. Deuteronomy 10:21

You will say in that day: “I will give thanks to thee, O Lord, for though thou wast angry with me, thy anger turned away, and thou didst comfort me. Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:1-2
